DWTS

So it's time for a confession: I watched this season of The Bachelor. In my defense we do not have cable and I innocently started watching it one night when Jeff was not home. He would totally have vetoed that had he been there. Well, The Bachelor has come and gone, and now I need a new show to satisfy my apparent Monday-night-show addiction.
Enter Dancing With the Stars. I was intrigued because the Bachelor, Jake Pavelka, is a contestant, and he seems like a control freak so I wanted to see how he fared on the show. Now that we are in Week 2, I have moved on to other people. My favorites as of tonight are Nicole Sherzinger and Chad Ochocinco. I used to take dance lessons (for almost 15 years!), and I can appreciate someone who really knows how to dance so that pretty much explains why I choose Nicole Sherzinger. Chad, on the other hand, just makes me laugh! He is one of my top picks simply because I just like the guy.
Another reason I am enjoying DWTS is because they always show you clips of the rehearsals, and they are always full of drama. I will not get into specifics, but I look forward to the rehearsal clips more than the dancing.
Is anyone else watching this and do you have some top picks?

Happy Birthday!

My friend, Jessica, called today to tell me that she had Leah early this morning! Mommy and baby are both doing well, and I cannot wait to get my hands on that baby. I am going to be patient and give them time to get settled back at home before heading their way. I do plan on doing a lot of cooking when I get there because we are always swapping recipes. Does anybody have any yummy (fairly easy) recipes that you can share?

Kids in Church

Someone shared these with me this week and the last one is a true story.

3-year-old:
"Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."

One particular four-year-old prayed:
"And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied.
"Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

True Story:
At our school's variety show this year, there were a couple of students who did not have proper audience behavior. The music teacher was speaking to one child about doing what an adult tells you to do, that she was the adult, and that he needs to listen to adults. As soon as she finished speaking to this child, one of his classmates raised her hand, and said, "And he also broke the seventh commandment: Thou shall not commit adultery!"

This and That

We are back from a mini-vacation to Highlands, NC with some friends. We ate way (and I mean way) too much and we did lots of sleeping and movie watching. I took no pictures because I did not take a moment to charge my camera batteries, but the view from the porch of this house was amazing. Views like that just make me stop and say, "You are awesome God!"
~
My friend, Jessica, is due with her first baby TODAY! I have not heard anything yet, but I am beyond excited. I cannot wait to hear all of the details of the delivery, get her impressions of labor and delivery, but most of all to meet Miss Leah Grace because I think she and I will be tight.:)
~
I made two sets of brackets for the NCAA tournament. Neither one of them is doing so hot. In my defense, I picked the winners based on who had the coolest name or teams that I had heard of. I mean, when you have a team name like Gonzaga, Villanova, or Xavier, you deserve to win based on cool points alone.
~
Another thing I am giving another try is couponing. I am going to spend this evening after church working on those. I do love getting a good deal!
~
I started a list of books I am reading. This is really just for me to keep up with what I am reading. If you should check some of them out, some of them will be children's books and some of them will be grown-up books.

Here we go...

again.

I tried blogging before, and I stopped doing it. I felt like I never had anything to say that anyone wanted to hear. And it really bothered me to get on the internet and see that it had been so long since I last updated my blog. I was kinda busy, finishing a masters degree, helping J get settled in a new job, etc. (I know other people do that stuff all the time, but it was a lot for me). Now the degree is complete, the husband is working, and I have had some extra time on my hands. So...I have reading people's blogs!

I realized a couple of things:
1-A blog is about my thoughts... no matter how trivial. One blog that I read said that she started her blog as a journal. I am going forth with this mindset.
2-I read several blogs and I almost never comment. That does not mean that I do not enjoy them or that I do not comment to myself about the posts. So if no one comments, then I'm okay.
3-Several things have happened, or just jumped into my brain, that I wanted to share, and now I can!

Here we go again.
